I hate everything about the new Medium UX

Damn! What a loser of a logo

First of all, the new logo is hideous. I’m no UX guru but I think it is intended to evoke the flipping of pages or some such stupidity.

To the dudes and dudettes behind the decision to move to this logo — skeuomorphism ended about a decade ago. Embrace that shit and let this logo go. Let the designer who sold you this logo and the philosophy behind it have this one. They got you good. We’ll keep you warm and safe in 2020.

Why does the home button keep jumping around?

Look, I read stuff on Medium. I even pay for it.

But fuck me if I keep having to pay attention to where the damn home button — the one which brings me back to https://medium.com like a civilized but neurotic human being so that I can restart my obsessive clicking on self-help drivel — is located.

When I first come to Medium, the Home button is on the top left.

If I am reading someone’s article, it switches to the top right.

I don’t know how I got there but I’ve also noticed that at times, it appears on the bottom left in the footer.

What?!?! I hear you say.

Yes.

The Conclusion

Medium, your new UI/UX sucks. Undo it.
