I Am Calling the US Election Right Now

(If current trends continue)Trump is going to get slaughtered by Biden. It won’t even be a contest.

Here’s why – I’ve been using Reddit for a long long long time, since the Boston Bombings, to be precise.

In 2016, mentions of Trump were sometimes positive but Hillary’s were always negative – people had no idea why she was running for President.

In contrast, now Trump’s mentions across the board are negative.

There’ll be a random thread about cute cats where a commenter will casually mention Trump as the son of Satan and no one will disagree.

The shift is 180°.

Not one comment about Trump is even remotely neutral.

Here’s an example of this in action.

The thread is about AirBnb but someone uses Trump as an example of human terrible-ness…and no one bats an eye at this analogy.

Could this be astroturfing?

Possibly but I doubt it.

Given the importance of information warfare and narrative shaping, I can’t imagine Trump’s supporters not running similar campaigns against Biden but there’s very little negative commentary about him that surfaces so either the astroturfed comments against Biden are getting downvoted or there isn’t a lot being posted about him.

You might say that Reddit is a liberal SM site. It was liberal in 2016 too, maybe more so given how far to the right…
