My comment was more about the optics of framing the war on terror as a fight between America and the terrorists who are Muslim, not America and Muslims. Israel has framed its war as Israel vs Palestinians by justifying every atrocity and war crime against Palestinian civilians as the cost of war.

No one was on the streets supporting AQ because Bush framed them as terrorists. Similarly, few people actually support Hamas per se - they are appalled at the fate of common Palestinians.
