Good to be back

It’s been what feels like many years since I last wrote on Medium. Truth be told, I did publish a piece not very long ago — on March 27th to be precise — an ode to my father and what he means to me.

I use the word “published” advisedly — that piece from March 27th was written elsewhere for a different audience in spoken word form, not the usual prose form I use on Medium.

The reason I am getting back into writing is to finally make the transition to actually becoming a writer. I mean, a writer has one job — to write. I can’t be much of a writer if I don’t write, now can I?

I’m taking as inspiration a writer I discovered on Medium— Isaac Jacob.

My first introduction to his work was his long ago piece about looking for housing in Mumbai. This was probably around April 2018. The reason it made such an impact was that it was around that time that I had been visiting Mumbai and was staying at an AirBnB somewhere in the vicinity of where Isaac had been house hunting so his descriptions of that particular neighborhood were especially vivid to me.

And yesterday, I read another piece by him on the passing of and the impact of Irrfan Khan on Isaac’s life. Once again, the impact was immediate.

Any way, long story short, I am going to try to give this writing thing a real shot.
